The producer
Casal Garcia was born in 1939, a year when the harvest was particularly good. Returning by train from the Douro harvest, French winemaker Eugène Hélisse decided to interrupt his trip to Porto after passing the Quinta da Aveleda vineyards in Penafiel. Dressed in white and wearing a straw hat to escape the heat of late summer, he began a walk to the estate's winery.
