The producer

The name of William Warre appears for the first time associated with the Port wine trade, with the creation in 1729 of Messrs. Clark, Thorn & Warre, benefiting from a long tradition of family history linked to Port winemaking since 1670. The entry of young Warre, who had served as a military under the orders of the Duke of Wellington in the war against the Napoleonic invasions of Peninsula, had to play a decisive role for its relations in the recognition and growth of the brand that at the end of the eighteenth century Warre & Sons already represented 10% of the total exports of Port wine in 1791.
