Tasting notes
17,5 pts Revista de Vinhos - Deep, rich ruby colour. On the nose bursting with lovely black fruit combined with a spicy complexity. Warre’s 2003 LBV has a palate of underlying richness and intensity with well rounded blackberry fruit and wonderful.
The producer
Warre's has always been one of the leading producers of Vintage Port. Warre's Vintage Ports are second to none in their expression of balance and elegance. While some other Vintage Ports can be almost overwhelming in their richness, Warre's fine wines combine elegance, length and balance while retaining the rich underlying opulence of great Vintage Port. This unsurpassed style is derived from the inherent features of Warre's two main vineyards: Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro Antigo. They complement each other very well. Horsetail's location, appearance and altitude translate to longevity. Old Retreat's location in Hottest River Torto Valley, combined with the fact that just over 70% of the vineyard is made up of old, mixed vines, results in wines that show great intensity, concentration and complexity.
