The Producer
Quinta do Valdoeiro is one of the most beautiful and well-structured agricultural properties in the Bairrada region.
Located in the parish of Vacariça, municipality of Mealhada, on the west side of Serra do Buçaco, Quinta do Valdoeiro was acquired by the Messias Family, in the 1940s, from the heirs of Visconde do Valdoeiro.
Since 1985, Messias, having as a crucial strategy the control of the raw material for the production of high quality wines, carried out the gradual conversion of the vineyards of Quinta do Valdoeiro, having been selected the most suitable grape varieties for the purposes strategic objectives of the company, committed to competing effectively in the national and international markets. The most recent plantations, carried out in 1997, against the strongest market trends, favoring a genuinely Portuguese variety, and another foreign variety: Touriga Nacional and the fabulous Syrah, protagonist of great wines on all continents.
