Covela Escolha 2015 - White Wine

#WS01017

Tasting Notes

Color: Citrine with light straw reflections. Aroma: Intense and complex where the floral aromas, the fruit of a tree with stone, mineral and aromatic herbs (lavender and sage) stand out. Palate: Creamy attack, balanced acidity, excellent mouth aroma and finishes with a long and refreshing finish.

The Producer

Dating back to the 16th century, the former Casa de Covela, formed by the ruins of the Renaissance building, the lagares and the chapel, testifies to the multisecular presence of wine production and the historical importance of this quinta.
In more recent times, the Covela belonged to Manoel de Oliveira, one of the most important European filmmakers of the half of the last century until the present time. The director, also a "Renaissance Man," turned the farm into several fronts, building aqueducts, massive walls, stone houses and granite floors to dry the corn grown here.

Awards - 15,5 points Wine Magazine. Tasting Notes This white wine presents a remarkable freshness that comes from the living acidity that this duality offers. To this it unites its slightly vegetal character that results from a mixture of original varieties, revealing an extremely pleasant and refreshing wine. The Producer When, 30 years ago, Ole Martin Siem came to Portugal, his agricultural background given his academic and professional background, allowed him to recognize in this country the ideal soil and climate conditions for wine production. He was born in Norway but his work in fruit production and trade has led him to travel around the world a little.Of all the contexts and countries, it was in Portugal that he was fascinated by the Alentejo wines, and by the breathtaking landscapes of the Vincentian coast.

    Tasting Notes Citrus color, aromas

Tasting Notes Citrus color, aromas of white and vegetable fruits of Sauvignon Blanc, light smoked and some bread toast. Wide mouth and complexity of the good maturation of the Alvarinho and vibrant freshness of Arinto. Persistent end. The Producer Inspired by the countryside and vineyards, these wines convey essentially this essence, that of their vineyards and their terroir ...! They are genuine wines of the land, produced with the grapes that have proven to adapt better to the climate and soil of the Homestead, and at the same time dare to innovate with less obvious grape varieties that enhance elegance and a differentiating savoir faire. At Herdade do Freixo, they seek a communion between the essence of the deep terroir of northeast Alentejo, with the most demanding international production processes, always focusing on concentration, longevity, freshness and finesse.

Awards - 16,5 points Magazine of Wines. Tasting Notes Shades of yellow and green and bright. On the nose the first impression is an intense crystalline and complex aroma of peach, pear, white flowers and much minerality, characteristic of Rabigato. The lees and aging oak give the wine a solid body and structure with a rich attack, lively acidity giving a long finish with delicate citrus aromas and mineral and salty taste typical of our grounds. The Producer The Douro, the oldest demarcated region in the world, reflects the culture and generations of people who for more than 2,000 years have shaped and cultivated the land to give life to a landscape and unique wines. And it was this desire to explore, experiment and create that in 2002 led us to the virgin and inhospitable territory of the Upper Douro to give life to the first wine of Muxagat.

The Producer This is a wine that was born of errors and the least you can say is that there are errors that come in handy. It's a different wine, full of character and with a story to tell.
