The producer
Duarte Caldeira & Filhos - Seixal Wines, Lda, is a family business. Duarte Caldeira is an Agrarian Technical Engineer, Sofia is an Agricultural Engineer (Father and Daughter) in which she is his disciple and follower. The Terras do Avô Wines, arise from the inheritance of land that Duarte Caldeira receives from his father, Alfredo Ferreira, grandfather of his 3 children. Hence the choice of the name of the wines, as a tribute to the grandfather for whom Sofia and her brothers had a great affection and closeness. Seixal Wines started in 2008, currently produces about 15,000 bottles of red and 15,000 bottles of white and 1,200 bottles of sparkling wine. On November 24, 2016, the first edition of this sparkling wine was launched to commemorate Duarte and Julia's wedding anniversary (Father and Mother). The Terras do Avô Wines are produced with grapes of their own production and some purchased from small farmers in the area.
