Cartuxa - Fundação Eugénio de AlmeidaThe Producer
Brand with great tradition with several awards obtained over time. The Adega was "an old Jesuit post, integrated in national goods in 1755 and already functioning in 1776 as an important wine press" (Barata). Acquired by public auction in 1869, together with the Monastery of Cartuxa, it was restructured in 1950 by Eng. Vasco Maria Eugénio de Almeida and Wife, counts of Villalva. Entering the assets of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation in 1975. In the current wine enterprise, supported by the University of Évora, the quality of wine was linked to the name of the Carthusian monks who, since 1587, have led a solitary life of prayer in the Monastery of Cartuxa.
