Alves de Sousa Quinta da Gaivosa 2015 - Red Wine
Robert Parker 93/100
Deep ruby color. Woodland fruit aroma, eucalyptus leaf, pine and prunes. Solid, with great structure, but with the typical balance and elegance of the Gaivasas. Great complexity and with many good years ahead.
Wine production is a family tradition for Domingos Alves de Sousa: his father (Edmundo Alves de Sousa) and grandfather (Domingos Alves de Sousa) had already been Douro winemakers. But Domingos Alves de Sousa at first embraced another career. Having graduated in Civil Engineering, however, he did not resist the double appeal (of land and blood), and left his activity in 1987 to dedicate himself exclusively to the exploitation of his inherited farms and to others he later acquired, in which it has been carrying out a model work of land reparcelling and restructuring.
Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional
Very nice vegetable note in the aroma, hints of blackberries and ripe plums. Serious and austere, while being elegant, with solid tannins and good acidity to give vigor and persistence at the end.
