Tasting Notes

Garnet color with red nuances, presents a good aromatic intensity with highlight to fruits of the forest, chocolate, tobacco and toast. On the palate it is soft, with freshness, strong tannins and unctuous to forest fruits and spices. Silky, prolonged and persistent finish of great elegance.

The Producer

Founded in 1955, Adega de Borba was the first in a series of wineries set up in the Alentejo, with the encouragement of the then National Wine Board, at a time when the sector did not have the leading role it currently has in the regional economy. Today, Adega de Borba brings together 300 winegrowers who cultivate about 2,000 hectares of vineyards, distributing 70% of red varieties and 30% of white varieties.

Awards - 89 points Robert Parker;- 18 points Wine Great Choices;- 17,5 points Wine Magazine. Tasting Notes It is a red that impresses by the contained and elegant tone, with delicate fruit very beautiful and pure, based on the wild fruits. Flavor full and vibrant, delicate but affirmative, always oriented towards the purity and delicacy of the fruit. Very long and vibrant finish. The Producer The Quinta Pedra da Cancela is the fruit of the passion for the wine of the Gouveia family. Winemaking is a family activity for several generations, in the beginning they delivered their grapes at the Adega Cooperativa. In 1999, with the end of the superior studies in Viticulture and Enology of João Paulo Gouveia, son of João Coelho Gouveia, they decide to create their own wine. The vineyards were restructured, others were acquired and a modern wine cellar was built and with a high technology, all respecting the culture of the demarcated region of Dão.

Awards - Robert Parker 95/100 Tasting Notes It features a deep, concentrated color, a spicy character and its unique tannin structure powers a long bottle aging. The Producer In the early nineteenth century, Thomas Reynolds migrated to the Alentejo region with the cork business in mind. Three generations later, his grandson John Reynolds acquired the Herdade do Mouchão for the production of wines. Several vines were planted, in 1901 a traditional wine cellar was built and in 1929, the distillery was installed, the same one still used today to produce the Mouchão brandy. Today the Herdade do Mouchão continues to be managed and worked by the descendants of the original family.

Tasting Notes Clear, dense and opaque. Suggestions of wild fruit well focused and wrapped in toasted notes, which give it great aromatic surroundings. Textured body and good tannic expression. Shows intensity and muscle, guessing good bottle potential. The Producer Herdade do Esporão is home to a unique terroir that is the result of an alliance of a very particular climate, regulated and softened by the great central lake, with different types of soil, exhibitions and the vast wine heritage of native castes, castes from other wine regions and castes. The typically Mediterranean landscape is composed of smooth undulating plains that occupy a little more than 1,800 hectares of total area, 450 hectares of which are occupied with vines and about 80 hectares occupied with olive groves.

Awards Robert Parker 93/100Decanter 90/100 Tasting Notes Deep ruby color. Woodland fruit aroma, eucalyptus leaf, pine and prunes. Solid, with great structure, but with the typical balance and elegance of the Gaivasas. Great complexity and with many good years ahead. The producer Wine production is a family tradition for Domingos Alves de Sousa: his father (Edmundo Alves de Sousa) and grandfather (Domingos Alves de Sousa) had already been Douro winemakers. But Domingos Alves de Sousa at first embraced another career. Having graduated in Civil Engineering, however, he did not resist the double appeal (of land and blood), and left his activity in 1987 to dedicate himself exclusively to the exploitation of his inherited farms and to others he later acquired, in which it has been carrying out a model work of land reparcelling and restructuring.
