Tasting Notes
Intense color and captivating nose, with notes of spices, earth and tobacco, in a rich base of black cherry, cassis and blueberry jam.
Rich, round, juicy, in the mouth it offers black cherry, red fruits and subtle notes of caramel and sweet oak.
The enormous classic structure of the tannin and firm acidity persist until a spicy finish.
The Producer
Herdade Grande is an agricultural property located about 5 km from Vidigueira / Alentejo, with a total area of 350 hectares, of which 60 hectares are vineyards, 40 hectares are olive groves and the rest are for sheep grazing. This property has been owned by the same family for about 1 century, having been acquired in 1920, when the vineyard and olive grove were present crops. In it was born the current owner, graduated in Agronomic Engineering since 1970, by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, who is the Manager and Producer of the company's wines. Together with adjoining properties, it forms a Touristic Game Reserve, with 750 hectares. The wine project started with the installation of vineyards in 1980 and winemaking in 1997, aiming to produce and sell 350,000 to 400,000 bottles of wine, of which 30% white and 70% red.
