Tasting note
Very dark red color, almost black. The notes of ripe and intense fruit, although without any excess ripeness, to which is added tobacco, graphite and a mineral background, appear accompanied by a slight vegetable suggestion that adds an unusual complexity and tension. Alive and powerful, austere but delicate, it surprises by the lively but serene tannins, ending fresh and vigorous thanks to a well integrated acidity.
The Producer
Susana Esteban was born in 1969, Tui, Spain. She has a degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Master's in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of La Rioja. She started her career as an oenologist in 1999, at Quinta do Côtto, having subsequently worked as an oenologist at Quinta do Crasto between the years 2002 and 2007. Both farms are located in the Douro. She has been working since the 2007 harvest as a consultant for different producers in the Alentejo, namely Tiago Cabaço Wines, Solar dos Lobos, Monte dos Cabaços and Monte da Raposinha. During this journey, her work has been recognized both nationally and internationally. In 2012, she was awarded the most prestigious award that a winemaker can receive in Portugal, the title of “Enologist of the Year”, by Revista de Vinhos, having been the only woman to which this distinction has been awarded to date. At the end of 2009 Susana Esteban decided to start her personal project with the aim of making wines with a different character from the traditional Alentejo and giving life to two magnificent wines, Aventura and Busca.
