Tasting notes
Deep red color wine, on the nose exalts the aromas of black fruit from the forest, with hints of violet and nuances of black pepper. On the palate it shows an explosion of ripe fruit combined with a high freshness, with well-present tannins that give it immense life and prolonged mouth, a characteristic that increases its aging potential, although it can be consumed now.
The Producer
The company was founded in 1926, by Messias Baptista, who maintained the management of the company until 1973. MESSIAS management is still, today, assured by the descendants of the Messias family. Since its foundation, MESSIAS has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde and Port Wine. The company is also recognized for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and spirits. The headquarters of MESSIAS is located in Mealhada, a small town in the Bairrada region, where the company has more than 6,000 square meters of facilities and approximately 160 hectares of vineyards, 70 hectares of which are used for the production of the prestigious Quinta do Valdoeiro wines.
