A mixture of white Loureiro and red Vinhão grapes, dry fermented with ambient yeast in clay amphora coated with beeswax. It's a bit funky at first, with saline soil and herbs complementing its aroma of dried rose petals and potpourri. The pale red tunic suggests cranberries and pomegranates, but a smoked meat leads to the land. Almost like clay, reflecting its vase in which it was born, as if the wine was talking deeply between fruit and fire, land and sea.
Casal do Paço, in Vasco Croft since the 17th century, has the soul of an old Quinta, and was the starting point of the Aphros project. It covers 20 hectares of land and forests, six of which are vineyards and four chestnut orchards. In the center stands out a granite manor house from the 19th century. XVI, with 2 floors and chapel. The first floor cellar goes back to the origin of the house. In October 2006, the first biodynamic process was implemented, marking the beginning of something that would transform both the farm and its wines.
Casal do Paço is now recognized as a model ecological winery committed to the preservation of its ecosystems that include not only vineyards, but also entire forests of acacias, oaks, eucalyptus and old trees, home to wild boars, foxes and eagles.
