Carlos Lucas began his career as an oenologist in 1992 at the Adega Cooperativa de Nelas, after completing his training in oenology with a DAA in Viticulture and Oenology at the National Higher School of Agronomy in Montpellier.
Still in Dão, he was a founding partner of the Dão Sul company where he was an Administrator and led the oenology team from 1994 to August 2011. It was in the 2000s that he started producing wines in other regions such as the Douro, Alentejo, Bairrada and region of Lisbon. He still had time to devote himself to projects across borders, with wine production in the Valley of San Francisco (Brazil), Piedmont in Italy and still in Priorat, in neighboring Spain.
In all these regions, it produces wines for all tastes, from top entries to top wines recognized by the national and international press.
His work was recognized as Administrator with several awards including "Company of the Year 2002", "Company of the Year 2006" and "Wine tourism of the year 2008".
It was the jury of the most important wine competitions in the world, highlighting its presence since 1997 at the Chalange International du Vin in Bordeaux.
He was a member of the marketing committee of Viniportugal and advisor to the General Commission of the Dão Regional Wine Commission.
He is a member of the Confraternities of the Enochophils of Bairrada, the Confraternity of the Enofilos do Dão, the Confraternity of Chanfana, the Confraternity of the Lamprey and the Holder of the Cross of Merit of the Confraternity of Santo Urbano and São Vicente.
In 2008 his work was recognized by the prestigious "Wine Magazine" with the award in Portugal of the "Winemaker of the Year" award.
