Tasting notes
Dark golden wine with a high incidence of greenish tones. The aroma of this 1947 Harvest is full of surprises as it has surprising tertiary aromas laden with vinegar and a mixture of spices. In the mouth it is very full-bodied and plump with remarkable complexity and confirming all the nobility of the aromas with a powerful and exuberant retronasal attack, presents us with an endlessly prolonged aftertaste.
The Producer
The company was founded in 1926, by Messias Baptista, who maintained the management of the company until 1973. MESSIAS management is still, today, assured by the descendants of the Messias family. Since its foundation, MESSIAS has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde and Port Wine. The company is also recognized for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and spirits. The headquarters of MESSIAS is located in Mealhada, a small town in the Bairrada region, where the company has more than 6,000 square meters of facilities and approximately 160 hectares of vineyards, 70 hectares of which are used for the production of the prestigious Quinta do Valdoeiro wines.
